The fascinating exhibition “Literary Characters from the Heli Männi Collection” is open to visitors in the Wittenstein Activity Museum. Popular and famous children’s books, games and puzzles and various dolls made from their stories are on display. It is great to see various Pipis, Winnie the Pooh, Moomin trolls, as well as very rare dolls such as Old Hottie, The Three Musketeers, Pinocchio, Totu and many others. From Heli Männi exhibition introduction:
“The most popular literary characters as puppets are Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson, the Moomin trolls and Pooh and his friends. Some dolls are not made to be literary characters, but they are just suitable for that and I have brought them here for the exhibition, for example, Tom Sawyer and Becky, Toto without a hat, 3 old teddy bears. Unfortunately, Estonian literary characters have been produced modestly, only Sipsik and Lotte with their friends, so we had to make Naksitralli and Poku ourselves and include the popular “Salvo” souvenir dolls.
The exhibition of literary characters in the Wittenstein Activity Museum will remain open until May 2024. Visits are possible during the opening hours of the museum, Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Other times by prior arrangement.
